Ron Orum Receives 4A National Recognition Award
|
[August 20, 2001]
At the Twentieth Annual 4A National Awards Banquet held last month in Somerset, New Jersey, 4A presented Ronald Orum, Operations-Vice President, AT&T Solutions, with the 2001 4A National Recognition Award. The award is presented to managers of AT&T who show strong commitment to diversity and career development of minorities and women, in general, and Asian/Pacific Americans in particular. Ron, who was nominated by the Northern New Jersey Chapter, is recognized for his advocacy of diversity and genuine interest in people's career development. Shirley Zhuang, President of the Northern New Jersey Chapter, notes that Ron has demonstrated consistent support for the 4A mission and its activities. In addition to encouraging people in his organization to participate in 4A and other Business Resource Group activities, he has shown personal commitment of his time. For example, he spoke at Northern New Jersey Chapter's Networking Session last November where 4A members were able to discuss with him professional development issues and job opportunities in AT&T Solutions. He has been an informal mentor to quite a number of 4A members. The AT&T Solutions Diversity Forum team, which he established in his organization and where he continues to offer personal advice, has expanded to other AT&T Solutions organizations. With such clear commitment to these matters, it is not surprising to those in 4A that Ron's organization has attracted many people from various backgrounds.
