BRIDGEWATER, N.J. -- The Asian/Pacific American Association for Advancement (4A) at AT&T announces its donations to the American Red Cross for the Asian Tsunami and Philippines Typhoon disaster relief efforts. In response to the powerful typhoons that struck Philippines in early December 2004 and the devastating earthquake & tsunami in Southern Asia on December 26, 2004, 4A has been conducting fund drives across AT&T locations through its local chapters. To maximize our fundraising results, 4A organizations, at both the national and local levels, have been working collaboratively with other AT&T Business Resources Groups (BRGs) and Telecom Pioneers at many local events to ensure the broadest coverage and exposure. Additionally, 4A has also been working closely with the AT&T Foundation to obtain Foundation matching funds for employee contributions for the Philippines typhoon relief effort. To date, 4A has collected more than $10,000.00 for these relief efforts, in addition to sending hundred of 4A members and AT&T employees to make a direct donation online. Our fundraising activities will help to maximize the matching donation from the AT&T Foundation. Additionally, in support of ongoing relief and recovery efforts to aid the victims of these tragedies, 4A is making a $5,000 donation to the American Red Cross for the tsunami relief effort and a $1,000 donation to the American Red Cross for the Philippines typhoon relief effort. "4A has a long and strong tradition in helping members of our communities in need." said David Lin, 4A National President, "We are proud to be leading the disaster relief fund drives at AT&T and we are grateful for the support from the AT&T Foundation, other AT&T BRGs, Telecom Pioneers and all the other partners". For additional information about 4A or 4A Disaster Relief activities, please contact 4A National Disaster Relief Committee Co-Chairs Arun Goyal or Mal Singh or visit 4A website at www.4a-att.org. |
